Israel had already s...And there's my dilemma... Israel had already stated that they wouldn't allow a shipment that big directly into Gaza and yet the activists did it anyway. Plus they directly asked a former US ambassador to join them (and he stated on NPR this morning that he was told they needed some Americans in their midst... to give "legitimacy", insurance, protection? Surely not to get aid into Gaza...) <br /><br />If they were serious about Aid to Gaza then get the Aid in there (and if you want to try and get 6 ships through a blockade then make it worthwhile by packing it as full of aid as you can). It does beg the question of what the true intention was.<br /><br />The deaths are terrible and tragic but, again to cite the American ambassador, the activists on board put up resistance to the soldiers enforcing the well known blockade. Again - it seems like a mixed message to pair humanitarian aid with protesting political activists (who, it sounds like from the ambassador were instructed to resist at least in the beginning.)<br /><br />Israel had options to respond differently (good example of the Somali pirates), if only they had.
